The combined
villages of Saugatuck/Douglas offer many fun-filled events
including the renowned Waterfront Film Festival; a spectacular
Venetian Fest complete with fireworks; the street fair atmosphere
of the
Douglas Village Socials, and several gallery strolls featuring
a range of artistic styles.
Besides
the numerous galleries, artistic expression can also be found
in area professional
theater troupes-The Mason Street Theatre in downtown Saugatuck.
An excellent venue and theatrical selection ranging
from the classic Broadway mainstays to cutting edge performances!
As well, a trip to the area wouldn't be complete without visits
to an exhibit at the Saugatuck/Douglas Historical Society
Museum; a sampling tour at Fenn Valley Winery; a Dunes Ride
to discover a lost town; an exciting and unique land/water
tour on The Duck Water Taxi; or a visit to the historic Titanic-era
Keewatin Steamer Ship Museum.
After
a busy day enjoying any of the above or simply a relaxing day
at any one of the three fantastic area beaches, a trip into
Downtown Douglas offers dining at any of the area's
best restaurants on Michigan's West Coast. For desert, finish
the evening off with a window-shopping stroll down Center
Street with a scoop or two of gelato or sorbet from
The
YUM! YUM! Café, just chosen by Oprah for her coveted O
List.
