Pines Motor Lodge Office

In 2001, Rob and Steve purchased The Pines Motel making this their 17th season of ownership and the property’s 59th year.  Spending their first year as new owners performing all housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance, they got to know the property, its guests and how guests used the rooms. At the end of their first season, they put together a 5 year renovation plan based on guest feedback.

Groovy Groovy Retro Gifts

In 2002, the front building which formally served as an office and manager's quarters was gutted and renovated with the addition of new windows and french doors to create a new front desk area; a gift shop, the  Groovy! Groovy! Retro Gift Gallery and a cozy hospitality suite looking back to the rooms and center courtyard for guests to enjoy seasonal continental breakfast and weekend social hours. Gallery and a cozy hospitality suite for guests to enjoy continental breakfast and weekend social hours.

Pines Motor Lodge Sign

That same year, the old roadside sign was renovated to reflect the new name change from Motel to Motorlodge, embracing the property's lodging past being built in 1958 and named the Plaza Tourist's Court. Most noticeably, the building's exterior color went from a drab teal to a festive, vibrant lime green.

Suitcases

In 2003, the first three rooms were renovated to include new bathrooms, knotty pine ceilings (OF COURSE!), new AC/Heat units, ceiling fans, Amish-made log furnishings, the introduction of king beds with pillow top mattresses, down duvets, new carpeting and ceramic tile.

In 2004 and 2005, the final 10 rooms were renovated in the same style making each room feel like a cabin in the woods. As well, wireless internet was installed for guest use in the hospitality suite.

In 2006Rob and Steve introduced the renovated Maple Ridge Cottages, located in Saugatuck, just over the bridge from The Pines. The property features four cozy bungalows in a wooded, compound setting each with 2 queen bedrooms, a full bath, fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliances, living room with gas fireplace and two private decks with Jacuzzi and grill.

Keep dropping in and watch the progress as new services and amenities are added for our guests!
